Physical Education
A strong emphasis is placed on developing positive attitudes by observing conventions of fair play, honest competition and good sporting behaviour as individual participants, team members and spectators. The students are encouraged to challenge themselves, to cope with success and limitations in their performance and to be mindful of others and the environment.
The advantage of having mid and high school students in our school is that we can provide opportunities for older students to develop leadership skills while being role models for our younger athletes. Sports Days and lunchtime clubs are examples of this in action. Lunchtime clubs are run by High School Phys. Ed. students (with staff supervision) and all Grade 3-5 students are welcome each lunchtime to take part in a variety of activities from skipping to soccer and everything in between! We believe that the overall well-being of a student, their degree of happiness, and their level of achievement links closely with active participation in school clubs and activities.
The annual walk-a-thon and elementary specTAGular are both held in May, followed by swimming lessons in May-June.
